Why try to explain miracles to your kids when you can just have them plant a garden?

This blog is about living on the west coast of Canada and my experiences thereof.

Writings Will Include

  • Gardening
  • Photography - mainly birds
  • My Musings
  • And Anything Else That Takes My Fancy

Gardening:
I have 14 raised garden beds made out of wood that was cut on our mill. Every year I try and do some organic soil improvements so I don't need to rely on chemicals.There are blueberries, strawberries, grapes (just put them in) and a herb garden beside the regular vegetable garden. On the west coast you can grow a lot of things year round without the use of a cold frame, which I take advantage of.

Photography;
I have become a passionate photographer of birds. There is nothing I like better than to spend hours patiently waiting for just the right moment. As I spend time with the birds, I get to see how they fly, their stance and calls and there is nothing more rewarding that to see a bird flying and be able to say that's a _____.

Actually, I photograph anything that catches my fancy but in looking back though my pictures they are mainly of nature and there are very few of people.

My Musings:
When I'm musing, it's like thinking out loud. Thoughts just come to me and I make a couple of notes and let them ruminate for a while. When I sit down to write, the words just appear on the page as if by magic. This is what I call my inner knowing which knows more than I think I know.

Anything Else That Takes My Fancy:
You might find stories, recipes, ways to preserve food, holidays, what goes on in the backyard, a new toy or a song I heard. Absolutely anything goes.

I promise you I won't be dull and if I get to high and mighty, feel free to take me down a notch or two.

If you want to know more about me, I encourage you to read the "About Me" page before you go any further.
