I have been wanting a flute stand for a while now that I have four flutes.
They have been laying around on the desk, table, pile of books and wherever I put them down once I’ve finished playing.
Depending on my mood will depend on which flute to play but first I have to hunt for it.
So, I decided to take the matter into my own hands.
I wanted something natural, not plastic or manufactured.
Seeing one make of dowels and a wooden base like a paper towel holder I was inspired.
Had the dowel.
Had the base.
But then there were tools involved and that meant I needed to access the garage.
Forbidden territory unless invited.
Thinking some more I came up with a new plan.
We had previously cut down some trees so I went searching amongst the branches.
Using the pruning shears I cut off a few choice limbs that I thought might work.
I found a piece of metal that looked like it could be used as a stand and started to assemble it.
After a few tries, I finally came up with this configuration then I brought out my flutes to give it a try.
I had to trim a few and take some buds off the branches but overall it works really well.
And… I have room for one more flute.
The stand was looking a little rusty so I sanded it down and put a coat of rustoleum on it.
I might change out the stand for a block of wood and drill a hole in the centre to put the branch in, but that requires tools, so who knows when that will happen.
Now, when I want to play the flute I know exactly where they are and which one I want to play.
Life is good.
