Besides the punk haircut, the ostrich has the most gorgeous eyes and eyelashes.
They are the kind that those of us with very little eye covering dream about.
We go to a great extent (no pun intended) to plump and increase the length of our lashes.
But I’m sorry ladies… the ostrich can bat their eyes with the best of them.
Ostrich has the biggest eyes of any bird and it is actually larger than its brain.
Its brain is about the size of a walnut.
But what it lacks in brain power it more than makes up for in eyesight.
They can see as far away as 2.2 miles (3.5 km) from their lofty height of anywhere from 6 – 9 feet tall.
We met this lady at Rooster Cogburn Ostrich Ranch which is a fun place to visit.
They have all sorts of animals there that you can feed and pet.
Think huge petting zoo with exotic animals but in more natural habitats.
The ostriches that you see are all females as the males tend to get a little territorial.
Every night they are taken from the enclosure where you see them in the daytime and literally herded to the ranch out behind the exhibits.
There its more like a ranch, ranch except with ostriches, not cattle or horses.
They breed, sell and make items from the feathers for sale in their gift shop and to other breeders.
So, if you’re ever in Picacho, AZ, take an hour to stop by and visit, you’ll see what I mean about the eyelashes.
