There is nothing better than to open your freezer in the middle of winter and pull out a jar of fresh frozen strawberry jam.
It’s like a jar of sunshine especially if you picked the strawberries from your own garden.
Freezer jam has always been a tradition in our family and I can’t remember having any other jam besides it on the table.
Right now I have blackberry, raspberry, plum and now strawberry jam in the freezer. Sunday morning is when the decision making happens with what jam to use to go with the breakfast croissant.
The great thing about freezer jam is that you can use it frozen (thaws out on the toast in seconds) and then pop it back into the freezer.
I normally leave it in the fridge freezer all the time and just take out what we need when we are going to use it.
Don’t get hooked into just thinking that it’s for the bread group. We often have it as a topping for ice cream or a custard. It also makes a great filling for a cake and if you combine it with fresh fruit it becomes the sweetener.
I use any jars that I have available and as I’m in the process of cleaning out my pantry I found these plastic freezer jars to use. They are great as they are stackable and work well in the freezer or fridge.
You can get them wherever you find canning jars or you can pick them up on Amazon.
