Travelling Stress Free

Have you ever thought about what it would be like to be travelling stress free?

The trip from Victoria to Phoenix was nothing short of miraculous.

Flight left at 1:25 pm boarding at 1 pm.

We got to the airport in plenty of time and found a parking spot in a crowded lot close to the terminal.

No lineup going through security so we ended up being there a little early which allowed for a sandwich and a little nap.

A short flight to Seattle and with less than 50 minutes to clear customs, go through security again and travel from one end of the airport to the other before we caught the plane to Phoenix.

Customs consisted of using a kiosk with your passport and then moving along to a very long lineup waiting to talk to a border agent.

As we were walking up to wait in the long line a woman opened a gate and ushered us in. We were now the second people in line and poof… there we were, out the other end.

On to the security checkpoint.

We know from other years that this can take a while as it’s shoes off, everything out of the pockets, take off your belt, hat and jacket… thank you very much.

But… it was a miracle.

With just a few people ahead of us, we sailed through in record time.

We found what gate our flight was leaving from and jumped on the train.

Hopped off, ran across the room and boarded another train.

Got off that one and boarded another which brought us within spitting distance of our flight gate.

Just as we arrived they called our seating zone and we were whisked right onto the plane and into our seats.

It doesn’t get any more perfect than that.

Usually, we sleep all the way but this time we got TV and movies.

We were about half an hour into the flight before I started a movie called “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel” as I had never seen it before.

Laughing out loud I had people staring at me wondering what I was doing.

But… I’m sure I was only 10 minutes from the end of the movie and we landed. The only downfall of the flight.

Now I’m going to have to get the movies to watch the end. What a good movie!

Here is a short teaser if you haven’t seen it.

After getting out of the airport we didn’t even need to call for a shuttle to our hotel. There it was… standing right where it should be.

On we hopped and were at the hotel in 5 minutes.

In the morning we hopped back on the shuttle and headed back to the airport.

And there, waiting for us was a shuttle to the car rental center.

We were the only two on the shuttle and we arrived in record time.

Got the car we wanted (Jeep Grand Cherokee) and in a lovely colour of bright red. Easy to find in a parking lot.

…and headed out on the road.

Our goal for the day was to reach Prescott as the weather was supposed to stay warm for a few days and we thought we would take advantage of that.

Rob had seen some pictures of the area and he wanted to see it and it was someplace that we hadn’t explored yet.

I was excited as they have four lakes right around the city and that means birds.

We took highway 60 up through Wickenburg and then highway 89 onto Prescott.

Stopping here and there for a stretch or to grab a bite to eat and got into Prescott in the early evening.

Google maps say it takes 2 hours and 29 minutes to get from Phoenix to our hotel but we have the ability to stretch the time into 6 hours.

Hey… we’re on holiday. Who’s in a rush?

I already know what tomorrow will bring as we just lived it today, but you’ll have to wait to read about it.  Not sure if I will get it finished tonight but I’ll give it a go.
